Mapping & Exploration
In the design mapping and exploration phase, our primary focus was on creating a seamless user experience for the multi-building reservation enhancement. We strategically mapped the user flow, ensuring an intuitive journey from space selection to confirmation.
Our UI exploration involved refining elements such as dropdown designs for selecting multiple buildings and visually indicating spaces from different buildings in search results. Integration of timezone information, both for buildings and users, was carefully designed for clarity and consistency across various views. Additionally, we explored intuitive interfaces for services attachment and synchronized calendar views, aiming to optimize the overall reservation process.
The design phase also delved into refining notification formats and enhancing the Reservation Details page to ensure comprehensive information, ultimately delivering a visually appealing and user-friendly system for managing spaces across diverse locations.
Challenges
Design Challenges
Scalability: Ensuring the design scales seamlessly with user growth and evolving interactions while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
Component Reuse: Assessing the feasibility of reusing existing components, like the search panel, to display building names without compromising functionality.
Dropdown Usability: Designing a user-friendly dropdown for selecting primary and secondary buildings with clarity and accessibility.
Zone Representation: Incorporating clear and logical representations of zones based on buildings or campus locations.
Viewing Selections: Providing an intuitive way for users to view and confirm selected building names effortlessly.
Stakeholder Challenges
Balancing Needs: Aligning stakeholder requirements with user-friendly solutions that meet both business and user objectives.
Data Limitations: Handling gaps or inconsistencies in datasets gracefully and transparently.
New Design Patterns
Innovative Dropdown: Creating a dropdown with hierarchical or expandable structures for selecting primary and secondary buildings effectively.
Dynamic Zone Visualization: Implementing visual tools like color-coded maps or labeled floor plans to represent zones clearly.
Interactive Confirmation: Designing a dynamic summary or visual prompt to confirm selected building names interactively.
Adding new patterns
To enhance user experience in workspace service delivery, three innovative design patterns were introduced. The Carousel Building Selection feature provides an interactive and visually engaging way to browse and select buildings effortlessly. This dynamic carousel streamlines the selection process while optimizing the visual representation of buildings, creating an intuitive and efficient user experience.
The Timestamp Integration ensures users have access to real-time and relevant timestamps, enhancing data transparency and accuracy. By providing up-to-date information on events and updates, this feature supports better decision-making and aligns with the need for timely data in workspace services.
The Card Enhancement Pattern improves the presentation and interactivity of information within the platform. By refining the layout, visual hierarchy, and functionality of cards, users receive clear and comprehensive details in a user-friendly format. Together, these design patterns address user needs, streamline workflows, and deliver a more intuitive and engaging platform experience.
